چکیده

We designed a novel catheter for simultaneous angiography of ipsilateral pulmonary veins (PVs), so that the catheter tip with side holes can be introduced into the inferior PVs and a second curve with side holes into the superior PVs. The simultaneous angiogram of the ipsilateral PVs, using this novel catheter, reveals more clearly the PV ostium to antrum, because simultaneous injection of contrast medium into two adjacent PVs reduces the dilution of contrast medium by blood flow through these veins.

Pulmonary Embolism as a Complication after radiofrequency catheter ablation Study: A Case Report

Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a fatal condition that may rarely occur due to complications of coronary catheter insertion. In this case report, a 41-year-old male was presented 48 hours after radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA) for the management of Wolf-Parkinson-White syndromewith acute onset of dyspnea, hemoptysis, and chest pain. The physical examination revealed coarse crackles in ...

Small or large isolation areas around the pulmonary veins for the treatment of atrial fibrillation? Results from a prospective randomized study.

BACKGROUND Pulmonary vein (PV) isolation is a promising new treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). We hypothesized that isolation of large areas around both ipsilateral PVs with verification of conduction block is more effective than the isolation of each individual PV. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 110 patients, 67 with paroxysmal AF and 43 with persistent AF, were randomly assigned to und...

Gadofosveset Trisodium-Enhanced Steady State Free Precession Magnetic Resonance Angiography of Left Atrium and Pulmonary Veins

Purpose: Pulmonary vein isolation by means of catheter ablation is a new therapeutic modality for patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation. Due to the complex anatomy preprocedual imaging of left atrium and pulmonary veins is helpful for planning catheter intervention. With the advent of electrocardiogram-gated and respiratory-gated 3D steady state free precession (SSFP) sequences covering...

Contrast-enhanced MRA and 3D visualization of pulmonary venous anatomy to assist radiofrequency catheter ablation.

In pulmonary vein isolation as a treatment for atrial fibrillation the proximal part of the pulmonary veins is catheterized. A protocol for preinterventional assessment of pulmonary vein anatomy was developed, based on contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in combination with three-dimensional visualization to tailor periprocedural angiography. The results allow for assessment ...

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection draining into the portal vein in a 2-month-old infant: multidetector computed tomography angiography diagnosis

Early diagnosis and surgical correction is highly important for survival. In the evaluation of TAPVC, imaging methods have been used. Recent advances Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which the pulmonary veins fail to connect with the left atrium and connect directly to the right atrium or to one of the systemic veins. Early diagnosis an...
